Arctic Symphony is a four-fold exploration integrating architecture, performance, natural processes and photography. Born from my graduation project at TU Delft, the work investigates how built space interacts with time, decay and the rhythms of the Arctic landscape.
Inspired by the subtle changes of a hidden pond near my childhood home overlooking the Oslo fjord, the project treats time as a fluid force — something architecture can embrace rather than resist. The design delves into themes of decay and regeneration, culminating in a live performance that unified architecture, dance and music.
The photographic component documents the landscape at different seasons and times of day, tracing the same spatial experience across months. These images informed the material palette and tectonic choices of the architectural proposal, closing the loop between observation, research and making.
Arctic Symphony er en firesidig utforskning som integrerer arkitektur, fremføring, naturlige prosesser og fotografi. Født fra mitt avgangsprosjekt ved TU Delft undersøker verket hvordan bygd rom samhandler med tid, forfall og rytmene i det arktiske landskapet.
Inspirert av de subtile endringene til et skjult tjern nær mitt barndomshjem med utsikt over Oslofjorden behandler prosjektet tid som en flytende kraft — noe arkitektur kan omfavne snarere enn motstå. Designet fordyper seg i temaer om forfall og regenerasjon, og kulminerte i en levende fremføring som forente arkitektur, dans og musikk.
Den fotografiske komponenten dokumenterer landskapet ved ulike årstider og tider på dagen, og sporer den samme romlige opplevelsen over måneder. Disse bildene informerte materialpaletten og de tektoniske valgene til det arkitektoniske forslaget og lukket løkken mellom observasjon, forskning og produksjon.
Arctic Symphony é uma exploração em quatro partes integrando arquitetura, performance, processos naturais e fotografia. Nascida do meu projeto de graduação na TU Delft, a obra investiga como o espaço construído interage com o tempo, o decaimento e os ritmos da paisagem ártica.
Inspirado pelas mudanças sutis de um lago escondido perto da minha casa de infância com vista para o fiorde de Oslo, o projeto trata o tempo como uma força fluida — algo que a arquitetura pode abraçar em vez de resistir. O design aprofunda-se nos temas do decaimento e da regeneração, culminando em uma performance ao vivo que unificou arquitetura, dança e música.
O componente fotográfico documenta a paisagem em diferentes estações e horas do dia, rastreando a mesma experiência espacial ao longo de meses. Essas imagens informaram a paleta material e as escolhas tectônicas da proposta arquitetônica, fechando o ciclo entre observação, pesquisa e criação.
